Founded in 2001, Mammoth Track Club is the top-ranked long-distance running group in America. The creation of this elite team is a joint effort of two world-renowned coaches, Joe Vigil & Bob Larsen, with financial and administrative backing from Running USA. The mission of the group is to return US distance running to the dominant force it was in the 1970s and 1980s.

In just six years under the watchful eye of coach Terrence Mahon, Mammoth Track Club has re-established the United States as a powerhouse, among the world leaders in the distance running. After Deena Kastor’s bronze medal run and Meb Keflezighi’s silver medal finish at the 2004 Athens Olympics, Mammoth Track Club has proven that it has the formula to produce great American distance runners.

These successes have only intensified the team’s drive. The goal is to build off their solid foundation and provide a successful model for young runners with Olympic aspirations.
